Materials We Use
Protecting the environment is our top priority. We always carefully select all of the materials we use. It is important to us to continually increase the proportion of sustainable and eco-friendly materials we use in our shoes.
Sustainable Leather
As member of the Leather Working Group (LWG) we support sustainable leather production. The LWG is an international organization whose members guarantee eco-friendly, transparent leather production along the entire supply chain. We mainly use leather from tanneries that have received a “Gold” certification from the LWG.
Recycled Materials
Using recycled materials protects resources and the environment, as less water and energy are consumed in production and waste is avoided.
We make sure that recycled materials are used to produce the uppers, inner linings and insoles and outsoles of our shoes. The recycled materials are made from old plastic bottles and other materials. Upper materials such as 3D knit, nylon and mesh are made from up to 100% recycled material. We use recycled rubber for the outsoles if possible.
Packaging Materials
We also pay attention to sustainability when it comes to our packaging materials.
Our shoe boxes are made of FSC-certified materials. In this way, we support responsible forest mnagement that does not operate at the expense of nature, people or animals.
Innovative Materials
Innovation equals modernity – which is why we source eco-friendly materials, especially for our uppers, which offer a forward-thinking alternative to leather.
Waste materials that would otherwise not be recycled, such as leftover apple peel or coffee grounds, or rapidly renewable raw materials such as hemp, are good options.
